Camping Vibe BBQ Near Seoul with Kids

BBQ Without the Hassle: Tent BBQ Near Seoul for Families

Show up, buy the meat on-site, grill in your own private tent — no packing, no prep, no stress. This is the Korean family half-day out you didn't know you needed.

Let me paint you a picture. You show up at a beautiful outdoor spot near Seoul with nothing but your family and your appetite. Someone hands you a private tent. You walk to the on-site store, pick your meat, grab some drinks and snacks, and walk back to your grill. The kids are already running around on the grass. An hour later you're eating perfectly grilled pork belly and samgyeopsal around a charcoal BBQ while your 5-year-old digs in a sandbox and your 8-year-old tries to convince you she can handle the tongs.

No packing a cooler. No forgetting the charcoal. No driving around looking for a supermarket. Just show up and eat.

This is the concept behind BBQ Factory (바베큐팩토리), a Korean chain that has quietly become one of the best family half-day options near Seoul. Sessions run 3–4 hours, so it fits easily into a morning or afternoon — no need to block out a whole day. I've been with my two kids — a 5-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl — and it delivered on every single thing it promises. Here's everything you need to know.

What Is BBQ Factory?

BBQ Factory is a self-service premium BBQ chain with locations across Gyeonggi-do and beyond. The concept is simple: each group gets a private tent (or deck area) with their own charcoal grill. Everything you need is purchased on-site — the meat, the side dishes, the drinks, the snacks. You grill it yourself. You clean up nothing. You leave full and happy.

What makes it genuinely different from a regular BBQ restaurant is the outdoor camping atmosphere. The tents are proper glamping-style structures — private, covered, with their own deck space and grill setup. Between sessions, kids have wide open lawns, basketball hoops, soccer goals, sandboxes, and at some locations, indoor playgrounds. It feels like a day at a campsite, without any of the actual camping logistics.

How It Works

1. Reserve in advance on Naver — Search the branch name on Naver Maps and book via Naver 예약. Walk-in is possible but spots fill up fast on weekends. Sessions are 4 hours on weekdays and 3 hours on weekends.

2. Arrive and get your tent number — Each group is assigned a private numbered tent. The setup is ready when you arrive: grill, tongs, scissors, plates, the works.

3. Head to the on-site store (매점, majeom) — Buy everything here. Meat options typically include pork belly (삼겹살), pork shoulder (목살), Korean beef (한우), sausages, and seasonal items. Side dishes, sauces, and ssam vegetables are available too.

4. Drinks and snacks — The store sells everything: soda, juice, coffee, beer, soju, chips, ice cream, and instant ramyeon. You truly do not need to bring anything except yourselves.

5. Grill your way — Outside on the charcoal BBQ grill for that smoky flavor, or inside on the cast iron dome lid (솥뚜껑) for the final cook-through. My personal strategy: start outside for the smoke, finish inside for the kids so everything is properly cooked. Works perfectly every time.

Outside for the char, inside on the 솥뚜껑 for the finish — and the sausages are always the first to disappear 🍖

Umma Tip: The cast iron dome (솥뚜껑) inside the tent is a game changer with kids. You get the smoky flavor from grilling outside, then move everything inside where it's easier to manage and fully cook through without worrying about hot coals and little hands. Plus the sausages and mushrooms on the dome are deeply, unreasonably good.
What to Buy: Per family of 4, I typically get: 삼겹살 400g + 목살 400g + a pack of sausages + mushrooms + ramyeon for the end. The ramyeon cooked in the remaining broth and meat juices at the end of the session is something my kids now demand every visit. Don't skip it.

For the Kids

This is the part that makes BBQ Factory genuinely stand out as a family destination rather than just a nice outdoor restaurant. Between eating and grilling, the kids have actual things to do.

  • Wide open lawn — Most locations have a large grass or artificial turf area where kids can run freely. Basketball hoops and soccer goals are standard. My 8-year-old spent more time on the basketball court than at the grill.
  • Sandbox — For the little ones. My 5-year-old, who is "too big" for sandboxes according to himself, spent 45 minutes in it. We don't need to discuss this further.
  • Indoor playground — Select locations (including the 남한산성 branch) have a small indoor play area. Great for rainy days or when the weather turns.
  • Snack store — Ice cream and chips from the on-site store work as excellent negotiating tools throughout the session. I'm not above this and neither should you be.

Locations Near Seoul

BBQ Factory now has 27 branches across Korea. For visitors based in Seoul, these are the most convenient options:

백운호수 (Baegwun Lake) Area ⭐ Recommended

📍 의왕시 일대 (Uiwang-si area)  |  Search "바베큐팩토리 백운호수" on Naver Maps

Set near the beautiful Baegwun Lake in Uiwang — a lovely drive from Seoul with scenic surroundings. Combine with a walk around the lake before or after your BBQ session. One of the most scenic locations in the network.

남한산성 (Namhansanseong) ⭐ Recommended — Indoor Playground

📍 Namhansanseong area, Gyeonggi-do  |  Search "바베큐팩토리 남한산성" on Naver Maps

Near the UNESCO-listed Namhansanseong Fortress — you can combine your BBQ day with a walk along the historic fortress walls. This location has a small indoor playground, making it the best wet-weather option and great for families with younger children.

에버랜드 (Everland) — 용인 3호점 ⭐ Recommended

📍 경기도 용인시 처인구 포곡읍 마성로 357  |  📞 0507-1401-6115

Right near Everland theme park in Yongin — perfect for combining a theme park day with an outdoor BBQ meal. Very family-oriented crowd. Pets welcome at this location too.

BBQ Factory now has over 27 branches across Korea, with more opening regularly. If none of the three recommended locations above work for your itinerary, search "바베큐팩토리" on Naver Maps to find the closest branch to wherever you're based.

Always Verify: BBQ Factory branches are independently operated franchises. Hours, exact menu, and facilities vary by location. Before visiting, search the specific branch name on Naver Maps and confirm hours, reservation method (most use Naver 예약), and what's available. Some locations are very popular on weekends — book at least a few days ahead.
Reservations: Most branches use Naver 예약. For the Everland branch, you can also call 0507-1401-6115. For the head office: 070-8832-1761. Instagram: @bbc.factory_official for current branch updates.

Practical Tips for Families

  • What to bring: Literally nothing food-related. The only things worth bringing: sunscreen, a change of clothes for kids (sandbox + BBQ = guaranteed outfit casualty), and wet wipes. That's it.
  • Timing: Sessions run 4 hours on weekdays and 3 hours on weekends. Weekday sessions are noticeably more relaxed. Weekend sessions book out fast — reserve by Thursday at the latest for a weekend visit.
  • Weather: The tents provide good rain shelter, but very heavy rain makes the outdoor grilling portion difficult. If the forecast is uncertain, choose the 남한산성 branch with its indoor playground as a backup activity.
  • Pets: Several locations are pet-friendly — check the specific branch on Naver Maps. The Everland (용인 3호점) location specifically welcomes pets.
  • Groups: BBQ Factory works exceptionally well for larger family groups — multiple tents side by side means everyone has their own space but you're still together. Good for multigenerational family outings.

Other Options Worth Knowing

BBQ Factory is my personal favorite for families — but it's not the only game in town. Here are two others I've tried, depending on what you're looking for:

서초바글 (Seocho Bagle) 🥩 No Packing Needed

Like BBQ Factory, 서초바글 is a show-up-empty-handed operation — all food and supplies are purchased on-site, nothing to pack or prep. The setup is clean and the meat is good. The main difference from BBQ Factory is that there's no dedicated play area for children, so it works better for families with older kids who don't need a playground to stay occupied, or for adults-only groups. A solid option if BBQ Factory is fully booked or if you're in the Seocho area.

Beyond the Farm (비욘더팜) 🐰 Bring Your Own Food

This one is a different model entirely — you bring your own meat, vegetables, and anything else you want to grill. Beyond the Farm provides the grills, tongs, and charcoal, and sells snacks on-site, but the main food is BYOB (bring your own barbecue). That means a bit more planning, but also complete freedom over what you eat. The real draw here is the experience beyond the grill: there are bunnies to feed, trampolines, and pools in the summer. It's more of a full activity venue than a pure BBQ destination, and kids genuinely love it for the animal and outdoor play elements. My kids went straight for the bunnies and barely acknowledged the food. Worth it for that alone.

Quick Comparison: Need zero prep and kids who need a playground? → BBQ Factory. No playground but still want food provided? → 서초바글. Happy to pack food and want bunnies + trampolines + pool? → Beyond the Farm.

Korean camping culture has always been about showing up somewhere beautiful and eating something grilled over fire with the people you love. BBQ Factory distills that to its absolute essence and removes every single logistical barrier. No packing list. No forgotten tongs. No arguments about who's in charge of the charcoal.

My kids ask to go back every time. My 8-year-old wants to be in charge of the grill. My 5-year-old wants to be in the sandbox. I want to sit in a camping chair with a cold drink and do absolutely nothing for two hours. BBQ Factory, somehow, makes all three of these things happen simultaneously.

That's the whole point.
